Description
The Cardiac Science Powerheart G5 Adult Defibrillation Pads are essential to ensuring your defibrillator is always in working order. The product features Intellisense™ non-polarized pads with Cardiac Science’s patented Rescue Ready® technology to minimize confusion and wrong placements of the pads on the chest.
The Powerheart defib pads come already preconnected to the AED for quick and easy replacement during emergencies. The pads have embedded circuitry which allows them to relay vital information between the patient and the device, such as the patient type, energy, and CPR protocol.
Pads are strictly for adult use only. For a child-safe version, check out the Cardiac Science G5 Pediatric Intellisense Defibrillation Electrode Pads here.
When to Use Defibrillation Pads
Electrode gel pads are used with automated external defibrillator (AED) units to deliver life-saving electrical shocks and revive someone suffering from cardiac arrest.
These particular adult defibrillation pads are compatible only with the Powerheart G5 line of AED devices. For the G3 line, check out the Cardiac Science Adult Defibrillation Pads Powerheart G3.
How to Use Defibrillation Pads
The Powerheart G5 Adult Defibrillation Pads are stored pre-connected to the G5 AED, making them easy to use. Simply plug in the end of the connector wire and power on the AED unit.
One electrode pad is placed on the upper right side of the chest while the other is placed on the left side, just below the left pectoral muscle.
Why It’s Important to Have Spare Pads
Many AED units only come with one extra set of replacement electrode pads. These pads cannot be used twice, thus necessitating spare electrode pads for Powerheart G5. Moreover, all defibrillation pads have an expiration date.
Each pack of Cardiac Science Powerheart G5 Adult Defibrillation Pads has a shelf life of up to two years. Using expired pads with a working AED can still fail to administer the charge and resuscitate the patient.

The True Value of Spare Defibrillation Pads
Emergency AED units are invaluable for any business, company, or organization. They are also necessary for homes with elderly family members.
You never know when someone might suffer from a sudden cardiac attack and need resuscitation. Having spare defibrillation pads is one way to prepare for such emergencies. Since electrode gel pads are one-time use only, it’s always best to have two sets of replacement pads at all times.
In cases where the patient has an extremely hairy chest, a spare set of defibrillation pads may also serve as a hair removal strip. This allows for the connected pads to securely and correctly stick onto the patient’s chest.
