The Cardiac Science Powerheart G5 is one of the most effective AEDs on the market and it’s one to ‘nerd out’ over. The Powerheart G5 was the first FDA-approved AED with fully automatic shock delivery, dual-language capabilities, changeable increasing energy, and rapid shock times.
Technology
The Powerheart G5 features Rescue Ready® technology that self-tests its electrical components, such as the batteries and rescue pads. Via a Rescue Ready indicator, this AED will give you a visual indicator that the AED is ready to use at all times.
This AED also features IntellisenseTM technology that gives the users real-time feedback on their CPR.
For advanced responders, the Powerheart G5 defibrillator offers asystole detection with threshold measurement that is exceptionally accurate. This enables the application of a shock to the weakest of cardiac signals. Additionally, the Powerheart G5 allows the user to vary the shock strength. If a victim is not responding to shocks given, the AED user can use the technology to intelligently increase the shock in hopes to increase effectiveness.
Who can use the Cardiac Science Powerheart G5 AED?
The Powerheart® G5 Automated External Defibrillator (AED) can be used by anyone, but it is recommended that users have CPR & AED training. Although this AED was created to be used by anyone, its particular features were created with professional rescuers in mind.
Where can I get a spare battery for the Cardiac Science Powerheart G5 AED?

Are spare pads for the Cardiac Science Powerheart G5 AED available?
You can purchase Cardiac Science Powerheart G5 AED pads for adults and pediatric victims. Adult pads are used for adults and children aged 8 and above who weigh over 55 pounds. What else do I need to use this AED?
All AED’s require a prescription to have the device. You also will need to keep records of proper maintenance.
Our AED Program Management helps you maintain 1 or 100 automated defibrillators and stay compliant with Federal and State laws. These laws vary, but typically include:
- a prescription to purchase the device
- a licensed doctor who oversees the program
- a written order / program policy template of how to use and maintain the device
- notification to local EMS of the placement of the device
- notification of any significant changes in the laws or guidelines that affect your program
- event review of any use of the AED and reporting of that information to proper authorities.
Summary
The Powerheart G5 is packed with features that allow both professional and first-time responders to provide a patient the best chance of survival in the event of a sudden cardiac arrest.
